Ask why the time is unavailable
Calendly's troubleshooting guidance identifies causes such as buffers, busy calendar events, event duration, scheduling limits and calendar connection problems. For a hypothetical consultant, an empty booking page should therefore trigger diagnosis before a broad settings change. A missing slot may be correctly protecting preparation time, or it may reflect a disconnected calendar. Pick one date and one expected time, then inspect the reason. Avoid deleting every restriction until something appears; that can create availability the consultant cannot actually honour and make the original problem harder to understand.
Write the expected interval
Specify the appointment duration, any preparation time and the hours in which it is allowed. A visible gap in the personal calendar may be too short for the whole requirement. Check the time zone and whether a calendar event is marked busy or free. Include all calendars the person intends the booking tool to consult. In the hypothetical practice, a teaching commitment on a second calendar may correctly block a client call. The expected result should reflect the consultant's real commitments, not only the calendar currently open on screen. Keep the diagnosed cause beside the corrected setting, so another team member can understand why the change was made before adjusting it again.
Change one cause at a time
Once the reason is known, adjust the relevant rule or connection and test the same interval again. Record the original setting so it can be restored if the change is wrong. If the slot remains unavailable, look for another independent constraint rather than assuming the first fix failed. Keep temporary diagnostic changes away from customer-facing promises where possible. The owner needs a simple explanation of which rule controls the time. A random collection of overrides may make today's slot appear while causing an unexpected opening next week.
Check nearby dates before finishing
After correcting the identified issue, inspect times immediately before and after the target slot and a representative future date. Confirm existing commitments remain protected. Ask a colleague to view the public page in the intended customer time zone and explain the available choices. The diagnosis is complete when the owner can state why the slot was missing and why the corrected availability is safe to offer. An open calendar is not the goal by itself; an accurate calendar is one that reflects the business's capacity and scheduling rules.
