How should an agency price work when drafts become faster?

Separate production time from discovery, judgment, revisions and accountability when reviewing a service package.

A faster task does not settle the price

Noy and Zhang's 2023 working paper examines productivity in bounded professional writing tasks. It does not determine what an agency should charge or what clients will pay. Those commercial questions depend on the complete service, including discovery, review, revisions and responsibility for the delivered result.

A small agency should therefore revisit its package before changing its price. If the client buys hours of drafting, faster production directly changes the conversation. If the client buys an approved launch page based on accurate customer research, drafting is only one component of the promised outcome.

Make the service components visible

Break the engagement into discovery, evidence gathering, structure, drafting, review and implementation support. Identify which parts the assistant changes and which remain largely dependent on people. Avoid using a reduced drafting estimate to discount work that still requires the same interviews or specialist review.

Describe revisions clearly. Unlimited iteration can absorb any production advantage if the client has not agreed the audience, objective or approval owner. A more precise brief may improve the economics more than a faster model, because it reduces changes driven by unresolved decisions rather than weak wording.

Test two commercial offers

Consider a lean package with a narrow scope and a more involved package with discovery and deeper review. Use actual customer conversations to understand which distinction matters. Do not assume that every client wants the cheapest possible text or that every client values a comprehensive advisory process.

Track the effort required to deliver each offer, including correction and client management. Treat any numbers in planning as assumptions until completed engagements provide evidence. A package can look profitable at the drafting stage and become unprofitable once fragmented feedback and approval delays are included.

Be clear about accountability

Explain what the agency checks and what information the client must supply or approve. The use of AI does not make the resulting service self-verifying. A client should understand who is responsible for confirming product facts, accepting a final version and resolving a later correction.

This pricing framework is our business analysis, not a result from the writing experiment. The practical goal is to sell a service whose scope, quality and economics remain understandable when production methods change. Faster drafts create options, but the right price still has to match a real customer need and a deliverable the agency can support.

Put it into practice.
