A practice consultancy for design studios
We fix how design studios run.
Fees that get paid, a client process that holds, specifying that does not eat the weekend, and a week the whole studio can see. Twelve weeks, one studio at a time, from Mumbai.
What we fix
Five things that go wrong in most studios of four to twenty people. We take on one or two at a time, never all five.
Each one in depth-
01
Fees and proposals
A fee that reflects the work, a proposal a client can say yes to in a day, and stages that get invoiced on time.
-
02
The client process
What the client sees, when, and what they are asked to decide. Fewer rounds, fewer surprises, decisions that stay made.
-
03
Specifying and procurement
One schedule per project that the whole studio and the contractor read, and a way of buying that does not depend on one person's memory.
-
04
The team and the week
Who is on what, how many projects a person can carry, and a Monday that tells the truth about the month.
-
05
Presenting the work
A presentation that ends in a decision, not a second presentation. The order, the words, the one picture that matters.
Three stories
Three illustrative stories with sample studios and figures, showing how your own case studies could look.
The three storiesHow it works
Twelve weeks, inside your studio, with the people who do the work. Nothing is written for a shelf.
The steps and the fee-
1
The week of looking
We sit in the studio for a week: the Monday meeting, two client calls, the invoices, the schedules, the lunches. At the end you get a page that says what is actually going on.
-
2
The one or two things
We agree the one or two areas to fix, the number that will tell us it worked, and who in the studio owns it with us.
-
3
The twelve weeks
We are in the studio two days a week. The new way is tried on live projects, changed when it does not fit, and kept when it does. The number is read every Friday.
-
4
The handover, and the fee
In week twelve we leave, and the way stays because it is already yours. The fee is fixed before week one: from ₹90,000 for the week of looking on its own, and from ₹4,80,000 for the twelve weeks. We say a number before you ask.
